POP CULTURE PORTRAITS
Art I students explore our relationships with popular culture through portraiture, art historical examples, value/contour studies, trace monotype image transfer, and collaborative processes. Subject matter and installation designs are democratically chosen by students.
Art I students are in grades 9-12, and have typically had little to no formal visual art education, previously. Assessments include critique, self-evaluation of project parameters, and written reflection. Students update their personal portfolio websites with documentation of each project.
